Douglas
Edwards
Douglas Edwards was born in Toronto. Edwards
attended the Ontario College of Art spending
his final year of study in Florence, Italy.
Edwards returned to Florence in 2003 as one
of the few Canadian artists invited to participate
in the Biennale Internazionale Dell’Art Contemporanea.
The underlying theme in all his paintings is
the relationship between light and landscape,
thus bringing an infinite variety to the paintings
of big skies and rolling hills. Edwards is a
plein air painter, preferring to sketch on location,
even though it means working quickly to capture
the ever-changing colors and moods of the landscape.
